The Safety & Risk Manager plans, develops, and coordinates all programs related to the safety and risk management function to promote employee safety and control Town risks and losses. 

This is done through the following responsibilities:
  • Coordinating Town’s risk management programs to include:
    • Vehicle fleet liabilities
    • Property liabilities
    • Worker’s Compensation
  • Identifying and analyzing risks that could cause injury to employees or other financial loss to the Town; Classifying risks as to frequency and potential severity, and measuring financial impact of risk on Town
  • Developing safety policies and procedures to protect employees and reduce risk
  • Managing liability insurance including review of claims and losses, establishment of policies, and training to minimize further losses or accidents
  • Coordinating activities and serving as staff member of the Town’s safety committee
  • Managing the Town’s safety and health program
  • Providing safety training to town employees and ensuring compliance with OSHA required training
  • Offering technical advice and interpreting laws pertaining to occupational safety and health
  • Conducting site inspections and assisting departments with necessary compliance issues
  • Reviewing annual Worker’s Compensation and liability insurance plan renewals and making any necessary recommendations
  • Coordinating compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
