OpenGov Initiative
The "OpenGov Initiative" was established to demonstrate how Morrisville maintains open government to increase public involvement and awareness. Each year, Sunshine Week is recognized nationally as a time to focus on government transparency. But in Morrisville, open and transparent government is part of our daily culture.
A great deal of time and resources are invested to make information available to anyone who wants to learn more about Morrisville operations. Staff and Council understand the importance of transparency in our daily actions, and strive to earn trust and involvement from our citizens through open government.
Here are just a few things that the Town currently does to promote open and accountable government:

Our website hosts thousands of documents available for public consumption, and is now even easier to
search.

Public Records laws and policies are thoroughly reviewed with all new and existing employees during our internal LAUNCH program, as part of the Public Information & Internal Communication document.

Minutes of our Town Council meetings are written to the level of detail in which a person who did not attend the meeting could fully understand the conversations. Many municipalities simply record actions of the Council.

Audio copies of meetings are placed online until written minutes are approved.

The number of Public Records requests has increased exponentially over the years, and the Town Clerk has taken steps to make the process of responding to these requests more efficient.
