Special Operations Response Team (SORT)
Team Members
The Morrisville Police Department has a special unit or tactical team. This unit is called SORT (Special Operations Response Team). It is currently made up of seven department members.

Responsibilities
Some individuals on the team are assigned and trained in special areas of responsibility. All seven members of the team are specially equipped and trained in all facets of making different types of entries in volatile situations. SORT is primarily utilized in situations such as:
  • Barricaded suspects
  • Hostage situations
  • High risk warrant service
  • Manhunts
  • Security for large disasters
  • Any time circumstances dictate special manpower and equipment needs

SORT trains monthly to develop and refine its ability to handle the many hazardous situations which may arise, and to minimize the risks faced by citizens, officers, and also criminal suspects.

SORT EquipmentEquipment
SORT is equipped with special communications equipment, weapons, and ballistic protection equipment. Members of the team are chosen from the personnel of the Morrisville Police Department, all of whom serve double duty on Uniform Patrol.
